Blogger Beauty-Liya from State of Sunday

Fashion lover from Australia shares with me about how she got into photography and blogging, and also answers some “Blogger Beauty” questions.

About: Liya became a faithful reader and was greatly inspired by other blogs such as “The Sartorialist” and “Garance Dore“.  From that inspiration lead to not just one blog of her own, but two, “State of Sunday” and “Sunday Style Notes“.  She began photographing people at various fashion events in Sydney (mostly new and upcoming designer launches).  To gain better knowledge on her photography she started a short course in it, “I realized there was so much more to photography than I thought.”

“What I find most fascinating is how a photograph can make an everyday object look interesting and exciting. So I set up a second blog, State of Sunday, for random photographs that I took.. of things.. locations etc.  Slowly, State of Sunday exceeded and started getting followers who were interested in what I was doing, so now that’s my primary blog… actually it’s more like a personal visual journal.”

BtL:  What does beauty mean to you?

Liya:  Hard to answer this question without sounding cliche but i guess it would have to be ‘individuality’, ‘charm’.  I think beauty comes from within (I cant believe I just said that!), sometimes a person might not look conventionally beautiful but they have so much personality, charm, style that you are just instantly attracted and want to get to know them.

BtL:  What’s your typical skincare routine?

Liya:  I wouldn’t say I am religious about skincare but I guess just the general cleanse- tone-moisturize would be my routine and I do a cleansing mask once in a blue moon.

BtL:  Do you have a go-to makeup look?

Liya:  Yes, I concentrate on the eyes so the ‘smoky eye’ is my favorite look.

BtL:  What can’t you leave the house without on?

Liya:  Bare Minerals mineral foundation

BtL:  Do you have a favorite product(s)?

Liya:  Bourgeois mascara

BtL:  What’s your favorite way to treat yourself?

Liya:  Yummy food or a massage

BtL:  What do you love most about being a photographer/blogger?

Liya:  Creative expression and the ability to share your view of the world with others.
