Look: Pink and Brown

So I mentioned on Wednesday post that I had a look to show you featuring Zuii Organics.  Here I used the Rose Mist and Bronze eye shadows and also the Cashmere lipstick.

Other products you’ll need for this look:

  • eye base or primer
  • shimmery champagne eye shadow
  • brown eyeliner
  • black mascara
  • brushes (I’m using the Sigma E55 and E25)

Steps:

1.  Apply your eye base or primer all over lid.

2.  Rose Mist shade goes from lashes to crease.

3.  Bronze shade goes in your crease and slightly above.

4.  Champagne shade goes under your brow (blending the Bronze with it).

5.  Line upper and lower lashes with brown eyeliner.

6.  Curl and apply a couple coats of black mascara.

Budget Bloom

So I mentioned earlier in the week I broke down and purchased the Smashbox In Bloom cheek duo. I have been obsessed with the whole collection, but $48 for an eyeshadow palette may not be for everyone.  What I did find for half the cost was Jemma Kidd’s Catwalk I-Kit at Target($26).  Her kit included 5 mini eyeshadows, 1 dry-wet eyeliner, eye primer, and a duo of natural shades.

My Tools:

  • Smashbox cheek duo from the Spring 2011 In Bloom collection
  • Jemma Kidd Catwalk I-Kit palette from Target
  • Sigma brushes F50, E55, and E25 (you get this sweet one free with purchase haha)

Other (not shown):

  • Benefit creaseless cream eyeshadow in R.S.V.P.
  • Brown eyeliner
  • Black mascara
  • Nude lip liner
  • Clear lip balm

I wanted to re-create the bright but natural feel to the look.  Here’s what I did:

1.  Eye primer then apply R.S.V.P. from lash to brow.

2.  Lined upper and lower lashes in brown eyeliner.

3.  Applied 05 Editor (top left) from lashes to right above the crease w/ the E55.

4.  Applied just a touch of  03 Vintage (top middle) on the inside of eye, blend a little with finger.

5.  Applied 02 Vogue (right side of duo) under the brow to blend all together.

6.  Lined upper and lower lashes with Aubergine Shimmer (bottom middle) right on top of the brown liner.

7.  Coat lashes a couple times with black mascara.  I realize brown mascara would give a more natural look, I don’t own brown though haha.  Feel free to experiment with this.  Blondes may like the lighter look of brown mascara.

8.  Taking the F50 brush dab it a couple times in the Blushing shade (peachy side) of the duo and using a swirl motion lightly apply to cheeks.  Don’t worry if you go to dark at first, this blush is super forgiving and you just have to rub it a little with your fingers and it fades nicely.

9.  Line lips with your nude liner.

10.  Dab your finger into the Peony side of the duo (darker pink) and rub on lips to tint them.  Go as dark as you like.

11.  I finished off with a clear lip balm to keep my lips from looking dried out.  If I wanted to give this an extra kick, I would have used a hot pink gloss like Benefit’s Dancing Queen.

My Holiday Makeup

Wow, I don’t know about you but my week just flew by!  I can’t believe Christmas is tomorrow! I decided this year I’m going for a rich cranberry look.  What do you think??

Here’s how I did it:

1.  Eye primer.

2.  From lash to crease I used the Motives Bubblegum creme eye shadow because it has more pinky gold tones to it.

3.  Cranberry eyeshadow from last to just outside the crease concentrating more color in the crease then the inner corner.  I also took a thin brush and lightly brushed some along the lower lash line.

4.  Smudged a shimmery goldish pink shadow in the inner corner and on the inside of the lower lashes.

5.  Vanilla shade under the brow to blend it all together.

6.  Lined upper and lower lashes in the Luxe Precision Eye Line in Noir (or black).

7.  Curl and applied black mascara.

I kept the rest of the look in a more neutral tone.  Try to pick a more apricot shade of blush and a nude lipstick so you’re not clashing with the cranberry eyeshadow.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!!!!

Two Smashbox Smokey Eye Tutorials

I’m currently watching TONS of makeup tutorials, mainly for reasons to see inspiration to start doing my own.  I know a few of you ladies have asked in the past about me doing them and I’ve always wanted to add them into my blog.  What’s stopping me??  I want the videos to be not only informational and inspirational for you but also fun!

I came across these videos for two smokey eye looks by Smashbox.  Each are a little different but what I really love about them is how the artist threw in general tips, like make sure you hit the outer corners of your lashes with mascara–yes a lot of women miss this and he points that out.  Enjoy!

Hint of Drama

Remember when we talked about lining your eyes in a contrasting color back here (I did a teal in the post)….well I’ve been doing a lot of playing with blue lately and this is my favorite everyday way to wear it.  Just a hint of drama…hehe.

1.  Shimmery creme eyeshadow from lash to brow.

2.  Champagne/gold in inner corner, shimmery brown in crease, vanilla shade under brow.
