May Julep Maven

Hello magnetic nail polish!  But before we get into that I wanted to share that I normally get the “Boho Glam” box.  Every month they reveal what all the boxes are containing and if you want to add on to your current box or simply switch to another one.  This month I took a leap and went for the “It Girl” box that had three sun loving shades.  A light orange named Ashley and a sunny yellow dubbed Nessa.  I simply think it’s great that with keeping in tune with the girlfriend movement all the polishes have cute names.

This month the special color was Kylie, a light plum color that when used with the supplied magnet produces amazing stripes that create the illusion that your nails are metal.  This was my first go at using a metallic nail polish and you really have to be careful you don’t hit your nail with the magnet.  I was overly surprised at how it quickly it worked, took just seconds to do!

April Julep Maven

I found two more reasons to love the Julep Maven program this month.  Number one being you get your box the first week of the month, seriously I think this box came on like the 2nd.  Number two being they sent out an email the week before about adding any of the other monthly shades to your box for only $4.99 more!  I got two shades, one I’m giving away on my facebook page so make sure to go over there and find out how you can win it!

Ok…my box was the cutest darn thing EVER.  It came all wrapped in pink paper with a lime green ribbon, tucked inside were also two pedicure toe spacers.  This was all surrounded with green shredded paper and chocolate eggs.  I think Julep should get first place in packaging–wins me over every month!

My colors this month were Molly, a classic red, and Alyson, a nude shade.  For my optional add on I got Susie, a super light mint green.  My treatment for April was a tube of The Best Pedi Creme Ever!<—that’s the name haha.  In all seriousness…it really was quite amazing.  My heels were smoother after just two uses.

March Julep Maven

Very proud moment to be a part of Julep’s Maven program this month.  Julep just launched their new Elixer–Organic Argan Oil and it came in our boxes!  Argan oil has been pretty famous the last couple of years and is getting such great reviews.  It’s properties are proven to help lock moisture in the skin, treat acne, and add shine to your skin and hair.  I started using mine as an all over treatment for my skin after my shower.  While my skin is still a little damp I squeeze a few drops into my hand and smooth it over my skin.  When done I run my fingers through my hair distributing the little bit that may be left on them.  Tip: A little goes a long way.  It is really such a lightweight oil.

OMG I almost forgot to mention the two great shades I received this month!  Alicia is a soft coral and Portia is a transparent light blue with tons of glitter in it.  I’m such a sucker for some great glitter nail polish.  My trick to get the most glitter on your nail is not to put a thick glob of polish on each nail but instead as you’re applying a coat add a few more passes over each nail.  Don’t forget to seal it all in with a top coat.

Julep loves nail art!  They have daily inspiration going on on their facebook and blog all the time but I even got an email telling me how to do my own at home with the colors I got in my box!  I don’t normally get that creative with my nails but this month I was inspired to kick it up a notch.  I’m no pro so please forgive my not-so-perfect polka dots.  I tried :-)

February Julep Maven

So far this has to be my favorite Maven box yet!  All their boxes were Oscar themed featuring rich shades of red, rust, gray, or blue.  Every box had the great gold glitter polish, dubbed Oscar of course!  My box included Marissa which is a shimmery deep cobalt blue, so gorgeous and topped with Oscar seems so fitting for my upcoming trip to California.

My treatment in this box was the Essential Cuticle oil which I just fell in love with.  It’s soothing lavender oil comes in almost the same jar the polishes come in only this one has a sweet roller ball on the end to distribute the oil to your cuticles.  Because it dried quickly the treatment was fast and mess free.  I only painted 1 nail Oscar for this pic so you could also see how gorgeous Marissa was (which only needed one coat!!!!).

January Julep Maven

Oh how this kicked off my new year.  I received my Julep Maven box this past weekend and was soooo happy with the contents.  I received 3 polishes!!!  Woot Woot!   The first one was the Nail Therapy to help strengthen and condition nails, also works as a great base coat.  The next one was called Heather(!!!!) and was a metallic gray with this cool pinkish mauve undertone, swoooooon!  The last one was a pastel yellow, Blake, that I admit I was extremely excited with.  I have been searching for the perfect buttery yellow and only the Chanel one has caught my eye, but I refused to pay that much for a nail polish.  The treatment that was included in this box was a Pomegranate body scrub that will no doubt go perfectly with the body lotion I got last month.  I’ll post up Blake when I use it on BtL’s fb page, for now below is Heather.
