Review: Ojon Damage Reverse

For years I was afraid to color my hair for fear of damaging my natural locks.  Little did I know that I was doing worse damage by washing and re-wetting and everyday blow drying.  Ojon has taught me that everyday washing actually breaks down part of the hair leaving it weaker.  Then factor in the heat styling, products, diet, stress, the sun, and other pollutants and you’re just playing with fire.  Ojon’s founder Dennis Simioni just happened to stumble upon the key ingredient to their products, an oil made from the seeds of the “Ojon” tree.  He set out to learn more and bring this elixir home.  Once formulated they began testing it and realized the oil actually mimicked the essential lipids found in unprocessed, virgin hair!  Ojon has now grew to incorporate this oil into 6 different hair rituals.

I had the pleasure to try their Damage Reverse line recently and to share my thoughts with you.  The shampoo was very mild, so if you’re used to getting that squeaky feeling after you shampoo you may need to adjust to this one.  I found it was great for my thinner strands!  The conditioner was really thick and a little went a long way.  This may be the first time EVER that I did not use all the conditioner up before the shampoo even came close, I know you know what I’m talking about!  Even though this conditioner was thick it never once weighed my hair down.  After 3 weeks of use I noticed an overall improvement with my hair.  It felt soft and healthy, a little shinier, and I noticed less was coming out during washing so it was definitely getting stronger.

I think one of the best things about this shampoo and conditioner, and I’m sure it goes for all their products, is the amount of time spent doing them was virtually cut in half.  The actual act of rinsing took seconds, so you get in and out with as little water necessary.  Love it!

Splurge vs. Save

Kicking the new year off with Splurges… I use one product on my hair and that’s hairspray.  I’ve gone through MANY brands over the years and nothing compares to Elnett.  It holds perfectly but can be brushed out in a snap.  It’s just amazing!

Elnett was first introduced to the market over 50 years ago in Europe and instantly became a hit among stylists and beauty lovers.  Rumors started emerging of editors and stylists smuggling cans to the states.  I used it for the first time when it became available at Target a couple years ago, I still remember rushing to the store and was so excited to test this out.  I’ve gone back and forth with other brands since then, mostly because lets be honest Elnett is not cheap (averaging $13 a can in stores).  I now justify it’s cost because it is the only product I use on my hair haha.  Totally worth it right?

John Frieda : Part 2

Hope all you ladies had a beautiful weekend. I can’t believe it’s been three months since I had the amazing makeover from the great John Frieda team. I’m still so in love with my new hair style! I have perfected the super straight look with a simple few passes with a flat iron, to my surprise it’s faster to do then I thought it would be. I recently two weeks ago decided to have a go at using the Precision Foam coloring all by myself…without the JF team…oh yea I was sooo nervous!!! How did it go? Perfect! The no-drip foam is just a god-send to the at home colorist and I did it in a breeze. I can’t believe I was ever so scared to dye my hair myself.

Recently, more then ever, I’ve really been embracing the bright pink lip shades. You might have noticed my post a week ago or so with my red shade picks. Surprisingly I’ve always been apprehensive about brighter shades but we had so much fun at the makeover and the feedback with the neon pink was so great that I’m now hooked.

Ok so let’s get to the good stuff and why I’ve made a part 2. They made videos of our experiences!! oes a happy dance: This is just more than I could have ever hoped for and so greatly appreciate everyone that was involved to make this happen. Ok quick hit play!

Ombre Hair

To do or not to do…What are your thoughts on ombre hair?  I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this ever since I had my John Frieda makeover but I haven’t bitten the bullet yet.  I posted some shots from Pinterest.  Yay or Nay?

John Frieda : Part 1

I could hardly believe it when I received the email that I was chosen to participate in a makeover by John Frieda’s creative director Harry Josh and his team.  I had been feeling for quite some time that I needed a boost to my appearance so back in June, for my birthday, I had my great girlfriend who is my stylist cut 4-5 inches off my hair.  The cut exceeded my expectations but I still had that feeling that it wasn’t a bold enough change.  I’ve always wanted to color my hair but doing it on my own just seems terrifying.  So this makeover couldn’t have come at a greater time.

The two day extravaganza included shopping, amazing food, manicures, cocktails, a slight hair transformation (hehe), tons of laughing, and more inspiration than I know what to do with now.  I met 4 other lovely bloggers, Angela of LipGlossBreak.com, Steph & Tyna of WeHeartThis.com, and Elisa of NySpender.com that were there also to join in on this great experience.  We were teamed up with Nola and India, aka the Glam Squad, who gave us each a fall fashion trend for the makeover…I was COLOR BLOCKING!!  I tried on sooooo many outfits, including a sparkly number just for fun (pic below).  You’ll have to check out the other bloggers posts today to see what trend they received and some more behind the scenes footage.

My Review:  As part of the whole experience we got to try out the whole coloring process.  I haven’t colored my hair since I was in high school and I remember the lengthy process that went into it.  I personally felt that the Precision Foam was so simple and fast!  Mixing was a breeze, no crazy shaking needed to make sure it’s all blended correctly, just tilt it 5 times.  Then keeping the bottle upright you squeeze it to dispense the foam.  We found out that one bottle of the Precision Foam gives you 2 liters of foam!  So if you have thick or really long hair you’ll benefit from only having to buy one box of this versus two of the liquid kind.  The foam itself was very light and once it hit the hair it didn’t fall off or run anywhere.  Talking with Harry Josh we found out that the technology came from Japan where they tested out the market for this type of foam hair dye.  John Frieda’s Precision Foam quickly rose up to the #1 selling home hair colorant.  The best part is that their numbers in sales didn’t change much months later which means the women who initially tried it the first time liked it enough to go back again and again and again.
