February Julep Maven

So far this has to be my favorite Maven box yet!  All their boxes were Oscar themed featuring rich shades of red, rust, gray, or blue.  Every box had the great gold glitter polish, dubbed Oscar of course!  My box included Marissa which is a shimmery deep cobalt blue, so gorgeous and topped with Oscar seems so fitting for my upcoming trip to California.

My treatment in this box was the Essential Cuticle oil which I just fell in love with.  It’s soothing lavender oil comes in almost the same jar the polishes come in only this one has a sweet roller ball on the end to distribute the oil to your cuticles.  Because it dried quickly the treatment was fast and mess free.  I only painted 1 nail Oscar for this pic so you could also see how gorgeous Marissa was (which only needed one coat!!!!).

January Birchbox

Soooo my first Birchbox arrived this week!!!  Yayyy!  I was so excited to start this that I also signed up for MyGlam (first bag should come in February).  Crazy right?  I just love all this sampling!

Included:

  • C.O. Bigelow, Lavender & Peppermint Shampoo
  • C.O. Bigelow, Lavender & Peppermint Conditioner
  • Jouer, Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink
  • Juicy Couture, Viva La Juicy
  • Zoya, nail polish in Kristen
  • Larabar, mini bar blueberry muffin
  • Birchbox logo magnet

I had a chance to experiment with all these products on Tuesday night.  I made it mini pampering session.  First I tried the lip gloss, naturally, because I just love Jouer products.  I was a little down about it’s small size but the pink color is so vivid it’s not something I would end up wearing everyday anyway.  The C.O. Bigelow shampoo and conditioner is sooo nice and smells sooo heavenly.  They were full travel sizes and doing some research online normally go for $4 a piece, pretty much pays for my box right there.  Next was the Zoya nail polish, first time I have used this brand and had a great experience so far.  Zoya is also a nail polish company known for being free of toxins.  Last, I splashed myself with a little Viva La Juicy…mmm love.

The only thing I disliked about my box was the Larabar.  Sorry but it just wasn’t for me.  Overall this was a great opportunity to try a variety of things that I wouldn’t normally pick up.  Let the countdown begin for February’s box!

January Julep Maven

Oh how this kicked off my new year.  I received my Julep Maven box this past weekend and was soooo happy with the contents.  I received 3 polishes!!!  Woot Woot!   The first one was the Nail Therapy to help strengthen and condition nails, also works as a great base coat.  The next one was called Heather(!!!!) and was a metallic gray with this cool pinkish mauve undertone, swoooooon!  The last one was a pastel yellow, Blake, that I admit I was extremely excited with.  I have been searching for the perfect buttery yellow and only the Chanel one has caught my eye, but I refused to pay that much for a nail polish.  The treatment that was included in this box was a Pomegranate body scrub that will no doubt go perfectly with the body lotion I got last month.  I’ll post up Blake when I use it on BtL’s fb page, for now below is Heather.

Birchbox!

I joined Birchbox on Monday and can not wait to get my first box!!!  According to my subscription I should get it a little after the 15th–and a post will follow soon after ;-)   Even though I run a beauty website I’ll put it out there that my hard earned dollars are being paid for this service, so the reviews hereafter are not swayed by any means.

Tell me…Do you subscribe to any beauty sampling services??  If so, which ones?

December’s Julep Maven – Happy Holidays!

I’ve decided to make my Julep Maven boxes a post ritual and share the surprise with you every month.  This month I was delighted to get a lovely Happy Holidays inspired box!!

It included:

  • Pomegranate Body Creme
  • Peacock Nail Appliques
  • Fast Dry Topcoat
  • *Bonus* Glitter Pot for Nails: Iridescent green pearls

The body creme is super hydrating which is great for the cold winter months that we have coming, my skin is going to eat this up after a nice hot shower.  This is my first time using these nail appliques too!  These are very luxe with 3 dimensional like peacock feather patterns on them.  Have you ever given the appliques a shot?  How did you like it?  I was shocked at how easy it was and it took me only 5 mins to do!!  Jane at Julep suggested putting the top coat polish on them to keep your manicure looking fresh for longer.

If you haven’t signed up for this program yet I highly recommend it.  You get truly high end and natural products for such a minimal cost.  I believe Julep is still offering the discounted code “BEHINDTHELASHES” to make your first box only $5.00!!!!

Meet Julep Maven & *Giveaway*

Today I’m absolutely so thrilled to share my Julep nail kit with you!  Julep started out being a popular nail spa destination in the Seattle area and now is growing into a powerful girlfriend movement.  They created a full line of amazing nail polishes as well as manicure and pedicure products, all of which are toxin-free!!!  More recently they just announced the launch of their new service Julep Maven!  The Maven program was designed to allow every girl, and girlfriend, out their to receive the same special treatment that beauty editors do.  In each box you get two nail colors, one being not available yet to the general public, and a special treatment.  I just got the Boho Glam Maven box and the colors were gorgeous!  There was Olivia and Miranda (special color not yet released for sale), and a bottle of their Facial for Hands Glycolic Hand Scrub.  The colors were insanely rich and lasted much longer than my normal at-home-manicures, they also didn’t smell as horrible as normal nail polish do.  The hand scrub was soooo amazing, seriously didn’t know what I was missing there, and took my at-home-manicure to a more professional level.

Loved this saying off their bag:

 Powered by Girlfriends.

At Julep we believe in the power of connection.  How together, we resonate.  How we inspire each other to be the best versions of ourselves.  We are a community of women celebrating other women in unison.  And that is beautiful.

With that said Julep and I have teamed up to give one beautiful lady a complimentary 3-month membership to their Julep Maven program (valued over $60)!!!!
