Review: Emani Eco-Friendly Makeup

Mineral Crushed Blush in Cancun Heart

Organic Lip Shine in Social Climber

by Emani Minerals

When was the last time you read the label on a new makeup purchase??  I can honestly admit that I was in the store yesterday and neglected to even check–shame on me.  Emani has made buying healthy makeup easy with their large selection of sustainable cosmetics.

Sometimes with more organic brands you compromise on them not being so luxurious.  This is not the case I found out with Emani.  The Organic Lip Shine was GREAT, it went on smooth and didn’t have a sticky feeling like most glosses do.  It smelled like vanilla and left my lips soft like a lip balm.  The Social Climber shade is great natural lip color shade, no shimmer or glitter, but with just the right amount of shine to go with those amazing pastel or smokey eye look.  The Crushed Blush is milled so incredibly fine that it went on so light and smooth.  The gorgeous Cancun Heat shade felt natural with a flirty youthful glow, and would work on any skin tone.

About: EMANI gives a new twist to the perception of natural makeup. We believe that women should not have to sacrifice their health in the name of beauty.  At EMANI, we have devoted time to studying the human skin and the full impact that EMANI products will bear on women’s health. By using the naturally occurring minerals, organic extracts and pigments, and by keeping our products free of talc, paraben, gluten and harsh chemicals, we at EMANI have created a line of non-comedogenic, nature-based makeup that not only works with your skin and supports its natural vitality, but also feels luxurious and looks glamorous with beautiful finishes that are long lasting.  With EMANI products, women really can have it all.

Mascara Monday: Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara

Skinny Brush Mascara Long & Tall

by Eyeko

This mascara is brand spanking new in the states!  Eyeko was founded and then created a cult following in London and was just released for purchase last week in Sephora’s here in the U.S..  I’m pretty excited to be able to share such a new product with you ladies.

So as you can see above Eyeko’s mascaras feature this amazing state of the art squeezy tube design that makes sure you really do use every last drop.  Although it might look a little intimidating at first let me assure you that dipping in and out of this tube is no different than any other.  The formula was a little more wet than others so go in slow and with a light hand, the bonus is this formula dries slowly so you have plenty of time to adjust and work with it.  Each of Eyeko’s mascara formulas contain vitamins and conditioning ingredients that promote lash growth and prevent breakage.

Skinny Brush mascara features a brush with a neat short to long bristle pattern.  The brush really lengthened my lashes and created the “spider lash” look that has become really popular.  If you’re worried about clumping Eyeko gives you a plastic shield that you can place behind your lashes during application.  I found it a little tricky at first but really loved how it also protected your eye shadow from smudges!

February Birchbox

I was not just excited to get my next Birchbox but also because I got an email from them asking if I wanted to test out another box full of Vichy products in addition to my regular box!!!!  My main box favorites were obviously the sample of Jouer Luminizing tint which I reviewed back HERE, but it also came with these killer Violent Lips tattoos(!!!) and a Beauty Blender.  Other items were a cute heart nail file, Orofluido beauty elixer for you hair, and 6 free tune downloads from Green River Ordinance.

This next box was such a bonus!!!  Look at all the skincare stuff I got at NO ADDITIONAL COST!  <–can you tell I’m excited??? haha.  It had in it a moisturizer, anti-wrinkle night cream, cleanser, eye makeup remover, and a cellulite cream.  I’m going to do a pampering night tonight and post up on my facebook wall how it went.

Review: Jouer Lip Sheers

SPF 15 Lip Sheer in Positano & St. Barths
by Jouer

Usually when I use a lip sheer it’s a soft and has a understated feeling.  They have a natural feeling because their not as thick as an actual lipstick, and go on as smoothly as a gloss without the stickiness.  I had the pleasure of being able to try Jouer’s Lip Sheer’s recently and am just in LOVE with them.  They went on very silky and felt natural….but then I really fell for the richness of color!  It was like a sheer lipstick, vibrant and beautiful.  Pair Positano with some great pastel eye shadows, and St. Barths with vintage black winged eye liner.

About: SPF 15 Lip Sheers are beautifully sheer and moisturizing.  These 4 sheer shades are loaded with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to lock in moisture and assist in keeping lips smooth, nourished and protected.  Available now at www.jouercosmetics.com.

Spring Beauty Essentials

I was recently invited, and overjoyed, to be a part of Glam’s Beauty Board and discuss with you some top essentials for spring 2012.  I received a box full of great beauty products to review and share with all of you.

  • Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray – I just recently had my hair cut short and had been washing & styling it everyday because it would be so flat the second day.  This dry shampoo really gave me all that volume back without feeling greasy or dirty.
  • Oscar Blandi Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray – Great if you love the flat iron or curling rods.  I used this then curled my second day hair and it turned out gorgeous!
  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator – You could really feel this penetrating and perking up tired under eyes.  Tip: Squeeze slow to distribute a little product at a time–a little goes a long way.
  • L’eau de Chloe – I change my signature scent with the season and I have just deemed this one for spring this year.  This scent just radiates spring with all it’s floral notes.  Now if spring would just get here already!
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy – Remember my homemade lemon sugar scrub??  Well this lip treatment smelled just like it!  My lips have been so chapped from this dry winter we’re having and they just ate this right up.
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – I haven’t confessed my love to you yet for Neutrogena but I definitely love this brand.  These towelettes are the ONLY ones I get.  They work amazingly and don’t sting your eyes when taking off eye makeup.  Tip: After I take off my makeup I rinse the towelette with warm water and wipe my face down again.
  • Neova Breakout Control Swabs – These are just sooooo handy and travel friendly!  Simply snap the one end of the cotton swab and the product dispenses to the other end.  I used it on some red spots I had that looked like I was going to break out and the red spots disappeared without over drying.

  • Pixi Glow Fairy Face Palette – Tinkerbell was the muse for this spring line, but don’t let the packaging fool you, this line was made for us older ladies.  The pigments are great and very beautiful.  Great collection if you want something new but like to keep it neutral.
  • Pixi Straight on till Morning Liner in 2nd Star Twinkle (goldish green) – This has to be one of the silkiest pencils I have EVER used.  I was done applying it in a snap because it just was that easy to use.
  • Jemma Kidd i-Sculpt Shadow and Line in Kings Road (deep purple) - I believe that purple is just universally flattering.  There is a shade out there for everyone.
  • NP Set Glamorista Mascara – If clumping is an issue for you then you have to try this mascara.  The brush really combed through my lashes leaving a light formula for a very natural look.
