Great Gatsby Glamour: Pamela Anderson’s Pinned Up Pin-up Bouffant

Isn’t this just a beautiful style?!?!  I’m really starting to love Pam’s new toned down look.  What do you think?

Celebrity Stylist John Blaine’s Step-by-Step Tips to Achieving Great Gatsby Glamour!
1. This look takes some blow-drying and a curling iron, so prepare your hair for the styling and heat with a treatment shampoo and conditioner. Pamela uses Obliphica Professional’s Treatment Shampoo and Hair Mask, one of John’s favorites.
2. Mix two drops of Obliphica Professional’s Intensive Serum with your favorite volumizing product and evenly distribute throughout damp locks. This will help soften your hair while adding extra shine volume without stiffness.
3. To achieve maximum volume, flip hair upside down and blow-dry hair with a round, boar bristle brush. Twist and curl brush various ways to create a variety of waves and texture.
4. Use a two-inch thick curling iron (or straightener) to curl random two inch sections of hair. John’s secret tip: Make some curls loose and some curls tight for optimal texture, volume, and chic-messiness.
5. For the up-do portion–use your creativity! Sweep about half of your locks to one side, twist into a loose bun, and use bobby pins to hold in place. John’s bobby pin tip: Insert the bobby pin across the loose ends of your bun and then twist and invert the pin so it is now angled toward the center of the bun. This creates a long-lasting, fortified anchor.
6. With the second portion of your hair, create a layered “net” over and around your messy bun.
7. With any the extra locks, loosely pin random portions to create height across the crown and sides of your head.
8. Leave a nice, loose curl to frame your face.

Great Gatsby Glamour: Dita Von Teese’s Coiffure

Oh how I wish I could rock this style everyday.  Thanks to John’s tips I just may be able to.  Big thanks to Hannah for allowing me to feature his work today and another Great Gatsby inspired hair tutorial on Friday.

Celebrity Stylist John Blaine’s Step-by-Step Tips to Achieving Great Gatsby Glamour!
1. “All beautiful styles start with healthy hair,” says John.
2. To get maximum shine and long lasting waves, prep your hair with a moisturizing, replenishing, and UV protecting shampoo and conditioner. John recommends (and Dita uses) Obliphica Professional’s Intensive Nourisging Shampoo and Hair Mask.
3. Mix two drops of Obliphica Professional’s Treatment Serum with your favorite styling cream and evenly distribute throughout damp locks. This will help soften your hair while adding extra shine and hold without stiffness. If you don’t have a favorite styling product, the Treatment Serum works great by itself.
3. Blow dry two-inch sections with a boar bristle round brush. Begin with under-most layers of the hair, curling the brush under the strands to create a voluminous bounce and inward curl at the ends.
4. If you want to be authentic, use rollers! Take one inch sections of hair and wrap them around curling barrels no bigger than 1 inch. John’s secret tip: The section of hair should never exceed the size of the rollers.
5. Beginning at the front of your head and at the level of your temple, place the roller under the one-inch section and begin rolling downwardt oward your tips.
6. Hold in place using a bobby pin or clip, and spritz a small amount of heat activated hairspray to the curl.
7. Repeat steps five and six with the lower layers of your hair.
8. As you move toward the back of your head, begin to strategically drop the starting point of your roller to create a continuos diagonal wave.
9. Once your head is crowned in rollers, set the curls by using a hairdryer on low. This will activate the hairspray for long lasting hold.
10. Gently remove the rollers one by one, beginning at the undermost layers, and apply one last light layer of hairspray for hold.
11. Use a bobby pin to pull back a wave or two, or pin a tight curl above the ear.

Mascara Monday: Laura Mercier Full Blown Lash Building Mascara

Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara

by Laura Mercier

Cost: $24 at Sephora

After trying dozens of mascaras over the last two to three years for this blog only a few skinny wand ones have won me over.  Laura Mercier’s Full Blown Lash Building Mascara has fully blown me away as of late.  I’ve been using this one for the last three weeks and am still in love with it.  It utilizes advanced natural cotton fiber technology to create full, thick looking lashes.  It’s by far one of the best mascaras I’ve noticed to be able to build onto itself to give the effect of longer lashes.  Full Blown Lash is not overly wet to start with so I found it really easy to get used to.  I would recommend this mascara to ladies who want to add a little oomph to their daily routine as it’s sure to please.
